You're right. I'm actually 16. I'll be 17 in a few months. Sorry!

At first I thought the same. But many unexpected ideas
popped up.

You did very good. Your 7th place is amazingly great,
doing slightly better than Thomas at your age is
unbelievable.

I really liked "Nate" because it meant roughly "Ethan" reversed.
Because of that, I was very surprised to having seen
your name changed.

On this actual board or TC-RTC itself? What type of files?

Well, you are improving, that's for sure. At your age, you've definately got a flair for 3D art. Just keep going with it and in 10 years time, I think you will have made your mark.
As for your other account, since you are the only one to have uploaded using two accounts, we'll merge your old account into your Thax account so that you've got everything in one place. _________________ Steve |

Judging from the "Gondolin" shot, I must assume that you do have quite some almost-but-not-quite-finished scenes... the old familiar "if it ain't got a deadline, how can I tell when it's finished" syndrome, I guess? |

I was busy this week, but I'm back...

I hope not! That was my first image, and, umm, well, I don't really want to talk about it.

I can't believe that someone actually followed my logic on that one. Everyone I knew couldn't understand why I had Nate.
However, I was in the BlenderArtists site as Thax. (Start with Ethan, delete the E, cross out the n, and... Thax!). I didn't want to have two versions of every picture, one with Nate and one with Thax. Besides, you have to admit Thax just sounds sleek! (Rememder, I'm 16!)

Thank you! That made my day.

Well, I was thinking if you wanted to post .pov files, or in my case, .blend files on this forum. Also I was thinking of writing an introduction to Blender for someone too afraid to get past the look of the program. In that case, can a .doc or a .pdf be uploaded?

Thank you, thats very nice of you. I would appreciate having everything in the one acount.

My gosh, that sounds almost prophetic! I take it I'm not the only one with a pile of half ideas floating around. That is exactly my disease, and the main reason that I have only three images finished, and those three for a tc-rtc challenge. I have a pretty good resource of objects I have created, ideas I've started, just waiting for a challenge to bring them to the light...

Sounds all too familiar to me
Yes, I have that ailment, too. (I wouldn't be too surprised if that applies to all of us here.)
The last couple of times when I thought, "ah well, this shot is kinda finished now", was shortly before the last TC-RTC rounds' respective deadlines... or when I decided I wanted to submit yet another entry in time
I can't help it, but unless there's a deadline to it, I always find something that can still be improved, so I never remove that "WIP" label from them (and as a matter of fact I also don't put that much concentrated effort into them, normally). |

It was still good, but your second one was truly
in a different league.
You are showing an amazing progression curve.

Don't worry, I figured that out in seconds.

"Nate" is another common name, that's the key and
the problem at the same time.

Sorry, you look so mature, how can I get used to it? _________________ DrNo |

Hi everyone, my name's Samuel. I didn't realize this forum existed until a few days ago, so, having only posted to the POV-Ray newsgroups for years, here I am
I came across POV-Ray back in... IDK, 1999? It instantly became my favorite 3D program, and remains so today! Sure, I use other programs such as LightWave and Blender, but all of my final renders are usually made in POV
I like anything to do with illustration and 3D graphics, especially complexity arising from natural processes. I'm more of an alchemist than a scientist in this regard, more of a mediocre hacker than a true programmer, but I do dabble.
Currently I'm playing with a 3D Voronoi library for C++ called voro++. I'd love to make a WYSIWYG editor for editing Voronoi cell structures, which would be something useful for everyone, but the fact that this project seems insurmountable only points to my very ineptitude... Oh well
Anyway, maybe I'll see you around!
Sam
P.S. Am I mistaken, or can I post 3D images rendered in programs other than POV-Ray? |

Sam! So glad to see you here too! Welcome indeed!
I hope you will also contribute to the challenges.... although my chances to make it to the first three will then be chattered utterly
| stbenge wrote: | | P.S. Am I mistaken, or can I post 3D images rendered in programs other than POV-Ray? |
Absolutely. This site is not specifically dedicated to POV-Ray. DrNo for example uses his own tremendous application. _________________ All the best,

Thank you for the warm greeting, Thomas! Maybe I can learn to open up more around here
Yeah, I might enter some challenges. I have never entered even one contest, anywhere. I should start doing so

Cool, that's good to know. Not that I ever finish anything else, but the incentive to do so is greater now
I'll be looking forward to visiting here often! |

That would be great. This is a small but friendly challenge environment, in character much like the POV-Ray newsgroups we are used to, I think. At this moment, the current challenge and activity seems to be a bit lower than usual, but this is due to the circumstances no doubt.

Excellent. Note that often contributions are submitted here which are not completely finished, so let that not stop you from participating.
By the way, if you want to attach an image to one of your messages, you just press the "upload image to post ImageShack" below the message window and follow the instructions. it will be added to the post. _________________ All the best,
